Petrol prices hiked up to Rs 13 – News Panda
The federal government has increased fuel prices in pakistan by Rs 13 per litre. Explaining the reason for this recent rise, the Finance Division said in a notification that the global market prices have registered an increase in the last fortnight. The division has said that this increase along with the depreciation of the Pakistani rupee is also the reason for the increase in the prices of petroleum products in pakistan. According to the notification, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 5 while the price of High Speed Diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs 13 per litre. Similarly, the price of kerosene has been increased by 2 rupees 56 paise. The price of light speed diesel oil has also been kept stable adjusting for government dues. The new rates will be effective from March 16, 2023. New petrol prices in pakistan The price of petrol has increased from Rs 267 to Rs 272 i.e. Rs 5 has been increased. The price of petrol has increased from Rs 280 to Rs 292 i.e. Rs 13 has been increased. Similarly, the price of kerosene oil has increased from Rs 187.73 to Rs 190.29, i.e., an increase of Rs 2.56. There is no increase in the price of light diesel, the price remains at 184.68. On March 3, Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Mossadegh Malik warned of another hike in petrol prices in pakistan following the recent depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar. A day before this statement, the value of the Pakistani rupee had decreased by 18 rupees. Speaking to a news channel, he said that the disappointing performance of the rupee could lead to a rise in fuel prices in the coming days. Explaining the reasons, Mossadegh Malik said that the main reason for the sudden increase in the value of the US dollar is political instability. He said that it is difficult to run the country in such an uncertain time. He also said that the government is negotiating with Russia to buy cheap petrol and gas.
